Jack Vettriano - Motel Love II

“Motel Love II” features a presumably unmarried  couple in a motel room, they have or a just about to have, sex. The female is languishing  on the couch, smoking a cigarette. She is covered with a white sheet, but underneath she is naked, still wearing her high heels. Her lover put his shirt back on – or maybe he never took it off.He is standing in front of the window, the curtains are shut, and he is moving them slightly to look outside. A table lamp disperses a little light, but it is very dim in the room. Vettriano’s title of the painting  would suggest that the couple meet secretly, just to make love, or otherwise they could have their encounter in his or her apartment. Probably one of them – or both – are married and they have to hide their affair.
