Jack Vettriano - Long Time Gone II

“Long Time Gone II ” is essentially the same as “Long Time Gone” but the stony beach is replaced with a sandy one. The painting has a couple who are kissing and embracing each other, the female has wrapped her hand around the man’s neck, he is holding her back. The title suggests that they have been apart from each other for a long time and are now meeting after not seeing each other for a while. Both are wearing formal business clothing, he is wearing a black suit, she is dressed in a dark costume, her long brown hair is wrapped up in a bun. They are not young any more; his hair shows some grey wisps. The scenery is an industrial site, the weather is dull and cloudy, in the background there is a power station. The couple is standing close to the sea, probably on a promenade. The painting may depict Methil Power Station, which is in Fife close to Edinburgh and there speculation that this is Jack Vettriano himself in the painting with one of his lovers.
