It is a windy day; the long hair of the woman, dressed in a red long robe, is fluttering in the wind. The other two persons dining with her are male, dressed in black dinner suits. The "Elegy for a Dead Admiral" of the painting title would suggest that they are having their dinner in memoriam of an admiral who died at sea.
